The Game of Life

There are times in our lives that we want so much to accomplish much. It seems like the hours of the day go by so fast and we look at the clock and the days and hours are gone from us, never to return again to our lives. Oh it is frustrating to be sure. We want so much for our lives during the short time we live upon the earth. Our never-ending list of things to do causes us much anguish. We wrestle with our thoughts and even with our dreams. There is no rest for the weary. We are the weary, the tired the ones that have so many wishes, so many dreams, so many reponsiblities. Yet, where or where does the time go? Does it stop? Nobody knows.

It is quite similar to a small hamster in his running wheel. He keeps on moving, feeling compelled to do so but never arrives anywhere, except for being exhausted. Why do we human beings get on this treadmill if it doesn’t lead to anywhere? Why do we try? Why do we seem doomed to failure so often?

You see, we have mistaken the journey we are on. You may think your journey is taking a road from one place to another, with many stops along the way. You think of your life as that road, it begins at one place and ends at another place. You can see the road ahead and the older one gets, the closer the end of the road will appear.

There is a problem with this map of ours, for there is no beginning and no end. The stops along the route you take you say are important. There are things to do, places to go, people to see! You couldn’t be more wrong. That linear line does not represent the life you live.

You see there are no guarantees that each stop or each person or each adventure will lead to what your soul long fors. Your soul longs for your happiness first and foremost, it yearns for you discovering who you really are. It yearns for you to learn, to become wise, to discover itself. It yearns for you to learn about the other playmates you have in your life. To love them, to share with them, to learn from them and to forgive them when necessary.

No one knows what purpose their lives serves, not you and not anyone else. It is like we are each planted in a foreign country not speaking the language, not recognizing the soil beneath our feet or the clothes on our back. There is no place to go, but we must do something, we must survive. We must look at our surroundings and gather the most amount of information as possible. Where are we? Why are we here? What purpose do I serve? How can I survive? Am I alone or do I have friends to share this journey with?

This, my friend is a game. There is no right way to play it and there is no wrong way to play it. Whether you travel a million miles in your life time or sit alone in one room with no mobility and nothing to keep you occupied aside from your own mind, you are in the game.

You make the rules. How are you going to play? I know for me the game consists of a certain outcome: trying my hardest, doing my best, sharing my toys, my love, my wisdom. I have learned much from the game I play and know I might have some hints for the other players. We are all free to share what we have learned with others. Will they listen? I don’t know. That is there choice to listen or not. They are playing their own game.

So, what is the answer to this? What is the bottom line? Well, the truth is that is for you to say. When you reach far enough outside of yourself looking for the answers you will discover one thing: no one has the answers. The only way to turn is within. You see, within yourself you hold the key. But you might ask, “How do I know if I am on the right path?” There is no right path my friend. The path you are on is simply the path you are on.

Every human you see struggles for their own happiness as well. Happiness, like peace, success and joy does not lay outside of yourself. It is within. You declare it and you will have it. You can find it if you look.

I leave you with this: take some time and talk to your soul, see what it wants, ask what it needs. Yes, you may find you are speaking with yourself but know It is listening. Don’t be surprised when It speaks back! Please search for your own truths, no one can tell you the answers. That might seem frustrating but that is the game. Quiet your mind, quiet your thoughts, in that stillness you will find peach and joy. It is a practice to be sure, but in the depths of the silence is that peace, is that truth. Trust, it will be there.
You are not alone in this game called life, you have choirs of angels singing, teams of spirits cheering you on and your own soul giving you gentle nudges urging you on to explore and experience the real thing you were meant to discover in this life, your Self.  Enjoy the game my friend.

Robin

“A young robin in the garden has such a sweet song. The early morning comes, the sun begins to wake and the robin believes he has the important task of song.
He is young and not well versed, however he has witness countless robin elders singing their songs to the world.

On this day, the young robin realizes he is all alone. There is no one else there to do the singing. Fear creeps in and the young robin worries what his song might sound like. Will it be good enough? Will it inspire? Will it be enough to wake up the sun and wake up the world?

The whole of the earth seems to go quiet for young robin. Then, in a flash the most beautiful female robin flies by. Without warning, without premeditation, without thought the young robin belts out a beautiful song. From deep in his lungs the tune is carried far and wide. The sun rises and young robin knows he has incredible power.

For you and me it is much the same. We can spend so much time wondering if our song is enough, if we are enough. However, when we allow love to fill our souls our songs must be sung! The power is ours to lift the sun from the darkness, move mountains across the land and create heaven on earth. Love is the answer.” -Sandra Champlain

The Rose

“The red rose shines in all its luxury. Perfumey in nature, the sweet fragrance of life. All who see the soft, radiant petals can appreciate the beauty of nature. Even the sharp thorns have a purpose to strengthen the stalk of the rose, protecting its beauty.

The eyes see the beauty of the rose, the nose smells the sweet fragrance. The ears hear the wind as it rustles the leaves of the trees and garden. To the lips and tongue the taste of rose hips in the tea we drink creates peace.

We all have another sense, a deep knowing that the earthly human senses cannot detect. That is the truth of the rose.

Far, deep within the earth once sprang a small bud. The sun warmed the earth and the bud grew toward the warmth of the sun. The rain and the soil nourished the young plant until the day it broke free through the ground.

In truth and trust we know this seedling has great promise. We do not know how it will appear, but know that deep within its truth it knows it is destined to be great and worldly. The day finally happens, its bud blossoms and spreads the wings of its petals. A beautiful rose is born for all to enjoy.

However, after the sun sets the final time on the aging rose, it droops and returns to the earth. The earthly senses can no longer detect its existence. However, to our sixth and heavenly sense, the truth is that a rose will once again return. For our joy, for our pleasure, the cycle never ends.

Keep facing the warmth of the sun and grow and trust. You too can never end.” -Sandra Champlain

Winds of Change

“Winds change the course of man. He who dreams has not the worries of a troubled mind. Those who inflict the passions of others, know not the joy that could be experienced.

The youth has got it right. Their souls know the trap of earthy delights. They rejoice in the experience knowing it will not last. The present they live in is a present we must all succumb to.

You see, time does fly and the illusion of the end of time is just that. It is all an illusion.

Have the faith that joy will linger and it certainly will. Have the faith that love is eternal and it shall be. This moment is precious and will last forever if you let it.

Why worry so much? Instead, live in joy and wonder. Explore, relax, learn, grow and share your treasures. It is all but a journey. It is all an adventure for your tireless gentle soul. Just play.”  -Sandra Champlain

Be the Moon

“Silver are the seas and the moonlight bounces from one wave to the next; gently stirring and moving. The crests are but a moment in time that is quickly forgotten.

Life for you and me is quite the same. Silvery, glittery, glistening moments of greatness are highlights and pleasantries. So wonderful, so joyful, illuminated by the moon as the beauty dances upon the shallow waves. Beneath the water the fish watch in wonder. They dance in delight.

However, only the moon knows a dramatic shift will soon occur. It is not known when it will happen. But as sure as the brightness of the day is replaced with the darkness of night, so too will the seas become stormy.

A great gale force arrives and wreaks havoc on the ocean waters. High tides and waves abound. Crashing like thunderous storms on the waters. The peaks and valleys are mighty. Danger looms for the ship on the water.

Danger looms for all who fall entranced to the dark clouds and giant waves in our minds. The fish go deep to the bottom of the ocean, where it is safe and peaceful. To those witnessing the surface of the water, the moon reflects a violent ocean.

However, to the moon it does not really matter. For millions of years the moon sits quietly in its place and just observes.

BE THE MOON. Act as the fish and go into the quiet stillness of your depths. Times will always change, be confident of that. Remember the moon and you will remember thy SELF.”   -Sandra Champlain

Sailing…

“Sailing takes you away to where you’ve never been before. Setting sail on a hot day, the wind is calm, the breeze feels gentle on the cheeks, the sunshine causes a rosy glow on the face. A glass of champagne in your hand, laughter with your mates, wearing the best nautical gear. The boat is a stage of your life. It is a time of joy, of accomplishment, celebrating the best of the best, along with the very best. It is a status symbol, a joy, a signed that you have made it, that you have earned it.

However, it is said that a boat in a safe harbor is not what boats are built for. Turning the clock back in time, the newly painted skiff is covered by silky, white paint. It looks new to the eyes of the beholder, but underneath it all is a worn ship, that has seen many stormy seas.

The past has not been gentle to this ocean dweller. No, the seas have been tough, it has weathered its fair share of dangerous waters. The stories it could tell are immense. Sailors have fallen from its decks and periled in the choppy waters. Drunken fights have occurred on board, with the men all trying to prove their honor and their valor. Their fear and their ego caused them to rise to extraordinary, imaginary lengths only to fall and feel ashamed once again.

There has been love made on board; births and deaths, stormy seas and calm waters. Even now the smooth ship waits. Although its exterior is painted anew, the interior knows that tough waters will be in its future. However, so will smooth waters and joy.

The sailboat has been built for a special purpose, to be able to withstand both the tough, stormy days and the days of smooth sailing. You and I are much the same. We are able to withstand some of the deepest and darkest trials and tribulations. We are able to experience the thrill and delight of adventurous days as well. We are both built for travel, the boat has a strong hull, we have a strong torso. Boats has rudders and sails to shift directions in tough times, we have feet and a mind that can redirect us no matter what the weather brings.

Better days will come, I promise you that. There will be celebrations and happiness yet again. Underneath it all lies a weathered ship. Fear not, ships are built for tough times and exciting adventures. It is true for humans alike. When you feel the wind on your face and sun on your shoulders remember, the voyage is all about gaining valuable experience.” -Sandra Champlain

Mother Teresa’s Anyway Poem

Mother Teresa’s Anyway Poem

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Daisies…

“Daisies bloom bright and magnificent. Their faces reach powerfully to the sun, aching to soak up every ounce of power that belongs rightfully to them. Their stems are long yet thin. They are that way so they can bend and sway. They can take the force of mighty winds and not be destroyed. They stand together with others, helping to keep the flock strong. From the surface they look delicate, but they are oh so strong. They have deep roots that are blended with their friends. They are not separate, they are attached and intertwined.

Know that you may feel separate and alone yet you are connected under the surface to so many, intertwined. Even if you may get broken off and taken away, petals plucked one by one, do not think it a misfortune…you may help someone else get their wish. You may be used for joy. You may be used to be the sunshine in someone’s day. You will always be connected to the flock, even if your stem is cut, there is always a connection. Always.” -Sandra Champlain
